"Trust and Thank"

I have been up all night studying for an exam I have today. I took a break to sit outside and watch the sunrise. During this time of relaxation and reflection, a few words of wisdom spoken by Dr. Jimmy Abraham came to mind. When Dr. Abraham used to be in charge of the Alumni Delegates at MSU, he would always tell us to "trust and thank" every morning when we wake up and every night before we go to bed. In the morning, trust that the Lord will get you through the day, trust that he will be with you at all times, trust that he will not give you anything you cannot handle; and thank the Lord for giving you another day, another opportunity to share his love, another chance to say you are sorry to someone or tell someone that you love them. At night, trust that any hardships you endured that day were for a reason, trust that the Lord has plan for you and do not be anxious about tomorrow; and thank the Lord for getting you through the day, thank the Lord for the hardships you endured that day because you trust that he has a purpose for those, and thank him for all the blessings that you recieved that day. These simple words have the potential to be extremely powerful if put into practice, they can easily change a negative perception of things into a positive one. I guess it is easy to forget to be thankful for hardships, huh? What a great reminder of who is in control and what all we have to be thankful for.

Although I only got to experience having Dr. Abraham as the Delegate sponsor for one short semester, he made an impact on my life that will last forever, and his words of wisdom will never be forgotten. Today I am thankful that God gave me the opportunity to know such an influential man, and I am thankful for the test I am about to take because it is leading to an opportunity for me to get my degree; I trust that the Lord will give me the endurance to make it through my test and help me remember all that I have learned in order to do well on it.
